Still have questions? Check here.

Does Meli need my bank password?

No. Meli never connects to your bank and does not use Plaid or any other aggregators. It reads supported transaction-alert emails from an inbox you authorize.

Which email accounts are supported?

Meli connects to Gmail and Outlook with read-only OAuth2, and to any email provider that supports IMAP. You can connect multiple email accounts.

Does Meli import every transaction?

Meli imports transactions represented by supported alerts in your connected inboxes. Email coverage depends on the alerts you enable; Meli does not read account balances or backfill purchases that never appeared in an alert. You can still add transactions manually, and Meli Pro can generate transactions from recurring schedules.

Where are my transactions stored?

Meli stores transactions in a SQLite database in Application Support on your Mac.

Does Smart Categorization run on my Mac?

Smart Categorization is disabled by default. If you enable it, you choose where the categorization runs:

  • Meli AI: Sends the transaction details needed for suggestions through Meli's AI service to OpenAI. Meli does not store the request or response. OpenAI does not use API data for model training, but may retain it temporarily for abuse monitoring.
  • Ollama: Runs on your Mac, so categorization data stays on your device.
  • Your AI provider: Sends requests directly from your Mac to the OpenAI-compatible service you configure, using your own API key. That provider's privacy policy applies.
Is Meli free, and do I need an account?

No account is needed. Meli Lite is free forever for basic tracking, and Meli Pro adds Smart Categorization, recurring transaction schedules, unlimited rules, and full-history insights. Your first install also starts a free 14-day Pro trial; see "How does the free trial work?" below.

How does the free trial work?

Your first install starts a free 14-day Meli Pro trial automatically after setup. There is no card, no account, and nothing to cancel. When the trial ends, Meli keeps working free as Meli Lite, and you can buy Meli Pro at any time. Trials are limited to one per person.

What happens if I cancel my Meli Pro subscription?

Cancel through the Lemon Squeezy Customer Portal to stop the next annual renewal. You keep Pro through the end of your current paid annual period. After it expires, Meli continues in Lite; your local data is not deleted, and history or rules beyond Lite's limits remain stored. We do not provide prorated refunds for unused subscription time, except where required by law or approved for a billing error or other exceptional circumstance.

How do refunds and billing disputes work?

Review our Refunds & Cancellations Policy, then contact hello@trymeli.app with your Lemon Squeezy order number and purchase email for refund requests, duplicate charges, billing errors, or disputes.

What happens when Meli does not recognize an email?

Parser failures from supported senders appear in a list for your manual review. On compatible Apple-silicon Macs with Apple Intelligence enabled and macOS 26 or later, Meli can also assess unsupported emails and surface likely transactions automatically.

Automatic tracking, without the bank connection.

Download Meli, connect a supported inbox, and let your local spending history build on your Mac.
